Mobile Learning Experimentation: Astronomy and Renewable Energies Videos for Mobile Phone Delivery

Unpublished - april 2009
Teachers and researchers developed one hundred video seminars gathered in the MOKA web site dedicated to the scientific seminars of the project. 150 students are presently experimenting MOKA activities using a Wi-Fi access to the server through their mobile phones. Aligning the data matrix mechanism to a video seminar title on a wall map support is a flexible way to download content and visualize it without any time or place limitations. Students point the photo camera of their mobile phone at the data matrix associated to the title of interest and download the related seminar on their mobile phones. Video seminars are implemented in an authoring system called TELA; an open platform from which students do the exercises and e-mail them to the teachers on a weekly basis. Every exercise sent to the teacher is automatically tracked out in order to help us assess the MOKA experimentation. An evaluation guideline is currently examined by the teachers and will be submitted to the students at the end of the experimentation.
