A shared interface model for services dedicated to visual impaired pupils
Proceedings of the UAHCI 2003 conference, page 1305--1309 - 2003
To help the inclusion of visually impaired students in mainstream education, we have built a distributed platform which can be considered as an electronic schoolbag. It is a set of pedagogical modules or services, such as a dictionary, an exercise book, a diary, which in general display parts of multimedia documents. We created a specific application, known as the service broker, which a learner has to run to enter the system. It manages the interaction with all devices and acts as an intermediary between the user and the services. This paper presents the common interface model that services have to share to deal with multi-modality and to communicate with the service broker and also with other services.
