This study will focus on the sensitivity of limited-area forecasting model Bolam (developed by ISAC-CNR in Bologna) in regard to three schemes of soil microphysics, estimating the dependence of water fluxes (precipitation, runoff, evapo-traspiration) as a function of those three schemes. The tests were mainly performed on several important meteorological events in Sardinia: the recent floods in Capoterra (22/10/2008 and 13/11/1999), the snowfall in Cagliari (09/11/1985), and also in ordinary weather conditions. The initial and boundary conditions required for the Bolam runs come from global circulation models of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) and National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP). In particular, for events prior to 2002 we used the dataset "ERA40" (ECMWF), but for events after 1989 we also used its evolution,"ERA Interim". For operational tests (ordinary weather conditions) were used GFS (NCEP) outputs to drive Bolam.
