FASTEF HX tube failure preliminary setup
Vincent Moreau
Rapport de recherche , CRS4 - may 2011
The aim of this calculation report is to present an updated design variant of the FASTEF HX-PP assembly. The CFD simulations leading to and supporting the update have been
performed with starccmV6.02 [1] The simulation domain encompasses the terminal part of the LBE flow in the Heat eXchanger (HX), the plenum connecting to the pump propeller
and the pump tube. The objective is twofold: (i) to deliver the most homogeneous flow to the pump propeller and (ii) being resistant to HX tube leakage. The constraints are the
usual about 2m/s limitation of flow velocity for erosion issues and to keep the pressure loss as low as possible. Due to the symmetries of the physical domain, only one quarter had to be modelled. We describe the update of the design and how it performs from the hydro-dynamic point of view.
